Landscape erosion simulation in Gaea and Houdini. Pollution, memory, transhumanism, data, virtuality, network, rhizomes, roots, lightning, fiction, allure, hyperobjects.
Thermal, hydraulic, wind, and anthropogenic erosions. Dune mining, soil creep, and chemical pollution. Land is a witness of human impact, but also of resistance. Nonhuman vitality is more than anthropocentric narratives. Land as data-body.
Software: Gaea, Houdini, Blender (Google Satelite Data), Nuke
Stills
Terrain creation in Gaea, rendered in Houdini, composited with visual effects in Nuke.
Blender landscape creation from Geographic Information System (GIS) plugin. There are areas of the Earth, captured by Google from different seasons and years, that are pieced together, forming a psychodelic, time-fluid, illusionary puzzle of the lands from real-world data, questioning arhiving methods of nature and time embedded in geology.
Gaea (a realistic landscape creator developed by QuadSpinner) texture maps research from heightmaps within the software and texturing according to the height information. Hydrolic flow maps are simulated according to the landscape information projected on a heightmap, in this sense, geological erosion simulation on noise textures, creating a hyper-realistic land based on a virtual procedural pipeline, resonating lightning and passage of time visually compressed at once.
