About Me

Sera (Siyun) Sun is an FX artist and creative technologist in immersive media, visual effects, and moving image. With a background in fine art and film production, her practice investigates psychoanalytic and collective memory, posthuman identities, and programmed networks, filtered through computational, ecological, and material iterations. She treats technology as a sensorial medium, using simulation, virtual environments, and physical fabrication to construct spaces that mirro and reflect encounters.

Sun is interested in the porous boundaries between the organic and the synthetic becomes porous, and when digital systems begin to feel intimate, fragile, or strangely alive. Across her practice, she returns to questions of estrangement and care, exploring how computational worlds might hold vulnerability without collapsing into spectacle. Her work proposes immersive experience as a site for reflection, where sensation precedes explanation and meaning emerges through duration.

She also has curatorial and publication experience, with her self-published graphic novel Lost at Sea of Mind selling out shortly after its release, and she is working on the second edition.
