Sera (Siyun) Sun is an FX artist specializing in immersive media. With a background in fine art, her practice explores affective storytelling through memory and ecological entanglements. Working with visual effects, virtual reality, and mathematical systems, she creates immersive worlds such as membranes and mineral lattices that give form to emotional landscapes resistant to written language.
Drawing from psychoanalysis and posthuman design, she examines the boundaries between the synthetic and the organic, inner trauma and external systems, the intimate and the machinic. Her recent works include kaleidoscopic films and installations that explore themes of melancholia, recursion, and post-natural environments.
Recurring themes in her work include psychological rupture, dream states, and digital identity. Graphic prints, animation, and virtual reality experiments translate abstract emotions and research-driven insights into sensorial, often unsettling, visual narratives.
She also has curatorial and publication experience, with her self-published graphic novel Lost at Sea of Mind selling out shortly after its release, and she is working on the second edition.
